Top Dog Best Polish Sausage

THE WIENER FACTORY
Sherman Oaks

The Wiener Factory

The Wiener Factory is a simple little shack on Ventura Blvd between Van Nuys and Sepulveda. If you're driving eastbound, you almost can't see it at all. But among Hot Dog enthusiasts, the Wiener Factory is well known as one of the best Hot Dog stands in town. They're family owned and operated, and the place has a great informal vibe. Their Standard Dog is great, and it's one of the few places where you can get a Turkey Dog with a natural lamb casing... but the thing that really puts them on the map is their Polish Sausage.

Like a bouquet of flowers

Available in both mild and hot (and they aren't kidding about that!) the Wiener Factory Polish Sausage is textbook perfect. It has a snappy casing, the spices are just right, and the dog squirts when you bite into it. It's a little unusual to find a large size dog like this with a natural casing, but the Weiner Factory knows how important it is to have the proper casing. Topped with their delicious red cabbage and cheddar, this is a dog to die for.

Best Polish Wiener Factory

On behalf of Hot Dog Spot and hot dog fanciers all over Los Angeles, we are proud to present the Wiener Factory the 2004 Top Dog Award for Best Polish Sausage in Los Angeles. For their address and more info, see our review...

Recently, The Wiener Factory switched from their own proprietary Hot Dog manufacturing to using Sabrett(sp) hot dogs. While I personally could not taste much difference, my friend and myself both got splitting MSG headaches afterwards. In addition, there's just something about knowing the dog you are eating was more of the home-made variety than mass produced by some corporation. I lament the loss.

I am the biggest fan of Wiener Factory. I are there often while working in the area for 6 years. The owner Kevin and his wife care about their dogs. They are forever looking for new items for the menu. The polish dogs rule without doubt. I love the red cabbage too. Try a Slaw-Cheese-O dry, coleslaw, cheese and onion with no mustard. It's my all time fave. Go Kevin!!!
