Top Dog Best Doggery & Best Sides
SKOOBY'S
Hollywood

Late night hot dog munchies in Hollywood have long been the exclusive territory of Pinks' down by Melrose. But there's a new dog in town called Skooby's, and in the immortal words of Hank Williams, "Move over old dog... a brand new dog is movin' in!" Situated in a tiny storefront sharing the marquee with a Mexican evangelical church, Skooby's fits the neighborhood perfectly. After a late night of clubbing or an afternoon of window shopping on Hollywood Boulevard, you won't find a better joint to hit for a quick bite. There's a counter on the sidewalk along with a couple of tables. Sit down with your chow and watch the world go by. Visit with the interesting people you'll find dining al fresco along side you at the best doggery in town. It's a really fun place to hang.
Skooby's has a great dog, and it's always snappy because there's no delay in getting it from the steamer to your mouth. But the sides are what really put the place on the map. Skooby's serves the best fries any of us at Hot Dog Spot have ever eaten... fresh and potatoey with a light dusting of home made seasoning salt. An order comes with a small cup of "aoli"... garlic pepper mayonaise made fresh at Skooby's just for the fries. Unlike most hot dog stands' chili, the chili at Skooby's is good enough to stand up to being eaten on its own. It's packed with freshly chopped top grade meat and it has an unique ingredient... Guiness Stout! Even if you don't like chili on your dog, make sure to try a little on the side. The fresh squeezed lemonade and the frozen fruit ades are displayed prominently in the window, luring in thirsty visitors to the "Walk of Fame". If it's too chilly for juice drinks, Skooby's makes a delicious hot chocolate. It's not a huge menu, but everything here "works" beautifully.

On behalf of Hot Dog Spot and hot dog fanciers all over Los Angeles, we are proud to present Skooby's in Hollywood the 2004 Top Dog Awards for Best Doggery and Best Sides in Los Angeles. For their address and more info, see our review...
